Several large retailers jumped on the chance to be a part of this redevelopment, one of which happened to be Costco. The new shopping center was master designed to be all brick façade buildings, veneer or structural.
Costco’s design team consistently used masonry and was open to the idea of brick. However, the cost of brick veneer over block or structural brick was outside of their budget. They decided to instead use an 8x4x16 Spec-Brik that matched the clay brick specified for the development. This choice allowed developers to meet their design budget and build a structure that fits the look of exisiting buildings made of clay brick.
